Description

This is an easy beginner friendly knitting pattern. It will help you make a scarf/cowl just like the pictured one!
This is the ultimate scarf/cowl/collar! it will stay put no matter what you do, no matter where you go, no matter how old you are! The fitted cowl will keep your neck warm at all times!
It comes in several sizes and in several yarn weights.
It can be made in 0-6 months size, 6-12 months size, 12-24 months size, 2-5 years size, and 5 to adult size.
The cowl/scarf is stretchy, yet the cast on and bind off edge has to be stretchy enough to go over the wearer’s head. It will fit most of those who are in their according age/size. 5+ size will stretch to fit most adult heads (up to 60cm / 23.5in circumference).
It can be made in Aran yarn (gauge for Aran yarn is 17 sts in 4inches (10cm) over stockinette stitch (row gauge is not important in this case), in Worsted yarn (gauge for Worsted yarn is 19 sts in 4inches (10cm) over stockinette stitch (row gauge is not important in this case), and in DK yarn (gauge for DK yarn is 21 sts in 4inches (10cm) over stockinette stitch (row gauge is not important in this case).
For most, 5mm (8 US) or 5.5mm (9 US) work best for Aran yarn; 4.5mm (7 US) for Worsted yarn and 4mm (6 US) or 4.5mm (7 US) for Dk yarn.
The cowl is knit in the round – you will need either a longer circular needle (if you are using Magic Loop), or a set of double pointed knitting needles.
